Product Description

This is an improved soft food formulation on the old style egg & biscuit recipes. The addition of hydrolysed casein and lactalbumin to the isolated soy and whey proteins produces an amino acid composition that is superior to that of egg. This amino acid composition along with the polyunsaturated and omega-3-fatty acids provides an excellent nutritional base for rearing canaries. This is a complete soft food for rearing canary chicks and should be fed to adult birds prior to breeding and offered throughout the breeding season until the chicks have fledged.

About Canary Diets
It is important to feed canaries a balanced diet throughout the year and particularly when they are breeding. Breeding canaries have an increased requirement for vitamins, minerals, essential amino acids and polyunsaturated fats. Inadequate amounts of any of these important nutrients in the diet will result in either poor egg development or poor chick growth. Many commercially available seeds are low in protein and deficient in essential amino acids, vitamins and minerals. Breeders often try to correct these deficiencies by feeding egg & biscuit supplements.

Most commercial egg and biscuit products are made from the cheapest ingredients, are poorly formulated and contain little, if any, egg. They are deficient in many of the essential nutrients needed for successful breeding results. Even home-made egg and biscuit recipes that are prepared from boiled eggs can be unbalanced, containing poor nutrient to energy ratios and inadequate amounts of vitamins and minerals. Beware of products that do not display a list of ingredients, composition information or expiry date on the label.

Using Egg and Biscuit
This is a granular powder and should be stored in an airtight container in a cool dry place. To prepare a moist, crumbly soft food, slowly add warm water to the powder while mixing. . Prepare food fresh for each day. We do not advise storing prepared food in the fridge overnight as it can become contaminated with micro-organisms. Fresh is best. Prepared product is a complete soft food that should be fed to non-breeding canaries once a week. About 1 month before canaries are paired for breeding increase the amount of prepared mix fed to 2 heaped teaspoon per bird per week Fussy birds can be enticed to eat this by mixing small amounts of soaked seed or other treat in the prepared food.

Once the birds are paired, offer a heaped teaspoon of prepared mix every day to each pair of birds. After the hen lays, offer as much prepared mix as the birds will eat. Continue to feed as much as the birds will eat until the chicks have fledged. Feed one heaped teaspoon of prepared mix per pair per day after fledging and up till the first moult. After the moult revert to feeding 1 heaped teaspoon per canary per week.
